BlueSky Energy sets up production line of saltwater batteries in Central Europe
Demand for the safe and environmentally friendly GREENROCK saltwater batteries is increasing. With our current supply chain we are facing limits in fulfilling the high order volumes. Therefore, we decided to tenfold current production. We will set up our new production line in Austria or Germany. The final decisions about location will follow in June.
A local production site in Austria or across the border in Germany offers the following advantages.
- Creating local jobs
- Added value remains in the area
- Shortening transport time from currently 8 weeks from Asia to only a few days within Europe
- Short term changes in order volume are easy to adapt in production
- Know-How about battery technology comes back to Europe
Planning and Operation
During the corona crisis the world got a new insight in how supply chain affects nations and companies. Already in fall 2019 we decided to bring back production to Europe. A local production makes logistics and handling faster and easier for us. Now we are ready to switch from planning to operation.
Although manpower is more expansive in Europe than in Asia we are convinced by the advantages. If we do not have to ship the batteries around the world we are doing a big favor to our environment. Offering the safest and most environmentally friendly batteries on the market engages us in working on positive ecological side effects in production. Shortening transports and logistics is a logical consequence of our vision.
How to finance such a project
BlueSky Energy is an economically fit and independent company. We are growing since 2014 and in 2019 we made profit of round about 200 000 euro. By March 2020 we had 3.4 million euro orders on hand. With expanding and setting up production in Austria or Germany we are talking of an investment of 5 million euro. The mayor part of that amount we handle with our cash flow, funding and bank credits. For 1.5 million euro we are offering preference stock to invest in the company. Starting at an investment of 1000 euro we offer our partners to benefit of the company success in terms of percent of the profit during the following five years.
Taking part in the growth of BlueSky Energy is possible for all German-speaking private or legal people. That’s because the contracts are following Austrian law and therefore are signed in German. More information and details you will find on our German web-page. Here is the link.
Press Release
On Tuesday 28th of March we sent out a press release to inform about the project.
Here is the English translation:
7,500 new solar power storage units per year
BlueSky Energy sets up production in Austria or Bavaria
Vöcklamarkt, April 28th 2020. The Austrian manufacturer for power storage systems BlueSky Energy is moving the production of its battery cells from China to Austria or Bavaria. Latest in June the decision about site location is to be made. Establishing the 5 million Euro production is planned for this year’s autumn. Series production of the battery cells starts in the first quarter of 2021.
Ten times capacity
With the new production facility, the previous capacity of 3,000 battery stacks per year will be increased tenfold to 30,000 units, which is sufficient for the production of 7,500 solar power storage units for private households. Thanks to economies of scale, BlueSky Energy intends to reduce the cost of storing solar power to below 0.1 euro per kWh in the near future. To finance the production facility, the company relies in particular on cash flow generated and subsidized loans. In addition, preference stocks starting at 1,000 euros will be issued until 30th of June 2020.
Salt water storage instead of lithium-ion batteries
BlueSky uses aqueous sodium ions for its storage systems because these electrolytes are available in unlimited quantities, and they are particularly safe and non-combustible. With success: Since its foundation in 2014, the company has already implemented hundreds of projects all over the world. The orders on hands by end of March 2020 was 3.4 million euros.
By relocating the storage facility, the storage manufacturer increases its capacities and meets rising demand. Transport times from an average of eight weeks are reduced to one week. “The corona pandemic has encouraged us to manufacture our cells regionally in order to avoid supply bottlenecks,” explains BlueSky Managing Director Dr. Thomas Krausse.
